Meet Jacqui

Being brought up on a small holding with a small herd of pedigree Goats, not to mention Dogs and Cats –Geese-Hens- and Rabbits all of which I loved dearly I naturally desired to work with livestock whenever I could with weekend jobs.

Stepping into farming in 1978 having left school and been on local radio giving a short talk on how impossible it was to get a first full-time starter job in agriculture, survived numerous poor jobs and questionable treatment for seven years.
In 1985 having paid for myself to obtain an HGV Driving Licence against all odds and prejudice which was expected I entered the Transport Industry and passed the HGV Class One Test first time.

From Driver’s Mate through to Transport Academic gaining the HND in Transport Studies in 1995 as a mature student, going on later to hold dual instructor qualifications for training truck drivers on both ridged and articulated vehicles, the one and only ethnic minority females in the country qualified way beyond the norm.

Trading as “That Woman” LGV Driver Training the business went from strength to strength – giving UK coverage for ten years –training both military staff and civilians in different sectors of the industry. Due to purely economic changes I was forced as many others to cease trading and seek another way of earning a living.

Community support work with young people in the “cared for “sector was just right for someone like me having been adopted. Working and volunteering for the Children’s Rights Service for Derby City Council for eight years.

In 2010 I started my own community support initiative trading today as Home Help Service Derby.

A chequered Curriculum Vitae- I hear you say yes but satisfying, challenging and different.
